Intergenerational Communication Talk Held at Edremit Vocational School

The “Intergenerational Communication Talk,” organized in cooperation with Edremit Municipality, Edremit City Council, and Balıkesir University Edremit Vocational School, was held with high participation in the garden of Edremit Vocational School.

The event, which brought different generations together, created a platform where the perspectives of the youth regarding the modern day met the life experiences of the elders. With the contributions of experts in the field, the discussion covered topics such as strengthening intergenerational communication, increasing mutual understanding, enhancing social solidarity, and promoting social responsibility awareness. While participants had the opportunity to share their experiences and viewpoints, a sincere and productive communication environment was established among different age groups.

The opening speeches of the program were delivered by Prof. Dr. Selami SELVİ, Director of Edremit Vocational School; Metin TUNÇER, Deputy Mayor of Edremit; and Fatma Dilara KAYA, Deputy President of Edremit City Council. The speeches emphasized that universities are not merely institutions that produce academic knowledge, but also entities that integrate with society, foster social responsibility awareness, and contribute to solving social issues.

The event contributed to our students’ interactions with different age groups, the improvement of their communication skills, and the acquisition of awareness regarding social values and social responsibility. In this respect, the activity served as a significant example of how the collaborations maintained by our vocational school with external stakeholders contribute to the versatile development of our students.

As Edremit Vocational School, in addition to education and training activities, great importance is attached to events that support our students' social contribution, social responsibility, and lifelong learning skills, and it is aimed to sustain such stakeholder collaborations in a sustainable manner.
