Adding Value to the Soil: Our Lavenders Meet the Earth
A lavender planting event was successfully held to establish a lavender garden covering approximately 1.5 decares within the campus of Edremit Vocational School. Organized as part of the Community Service courses, a total of 300 lavender seedlings were planted with the active participation of our students.
This meaningful project, which promotes nature-friendly, sustainable, and hands-on education, aims to contribute to both the professional and social development of our students. Throughout the process of creating the lavender garden—from site preparation to the final planting—various institutions and stakeholders provided invaluable contributions.
In this context, we would like to extend our gratitude to Edremit Municipality, İvrindi Municipality, the Forestry Directorates of Edremit and İvrindi, Edremit TEMA Foundation, BAÇEM, BAUN Botanical Garden and Herbarium Application and Research Center, Müşteba Dilek, our administrative staff, and all our students for their dedicated support. Moving forward, the lavender garden is planned to be actively utilized in educational and practical activities, particularly in the production of essential oils and hydrosols through the distillation method.
